20260629005 - FasterXML jackson-databind bypass vulnerability

Overview

The WASOC has been made aware of a vulnerability affecting FasterXML jackson-databind.

The vulnerability allows an attacker to bypass the PolymorphicTypeValidator (PTV) allow-list when deserialising polymorphic types with generic parameters. Successful exploitation may allow arbitrary classes to be instantiated during deserialisation and could result in arbitrary code execution in vulnerable applications.

What has been observed?

The WASOC has not received any reports of exploitation of this vulnerability on Western Australian Government networks at the time of writing.
