Net-SNMP Critical Buffer Overflow Vulnerability - 20251229001

Overview

The WASOC has been made aware of a Net-SNMP critical buffer overflow vulnerability. This vulnerability can be exploited by a specially crafted packet to an net-snmp snmptrapd daemon, causing a buffer overflow and the daemon to crash.

What has been observed?

The WASOC has not received any reports of exploitation of this vulnerability on Western Australian Government networks at the time of writing.
