Linux Sudo chroot Vulnerability - 20250702002¶
Overview¶
A vulnerability in Sudo may allow an attacker to run arbitrary commands as root on systems that support /etc/nsswitch.conf due to Sudo incorrectly handling the chroot option. An attacker must already have access to a valid account on a system.

What has been observed?¶
The WA SOC has not received any reports of exploitation of this vulnerability on Western Australian Government networks at the time of writing.
Recommendation¶
The WA SOC recommends administrators apply the solutions as per vendor instructions to all affected devices within expected timeframes (refer Patch Management):
